Groundbreaking ceremony for the first Export Processing Zone in Vietnam
- Tan Thuan Export Processing Joint Stock Company (TT2).

Hiep Phuoc Power Plant came into operation
- 1995: Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet visited Hiep Phuoc factory.
- 2002: Hiep Phuoc Power Plant briefly provides about 40% of the electricity consumed in Ho Chi Minh City.
