Ho Chi Minh City, July 2025 – Amid the vibrant summer days, the 3rd Children Art Exhibition comes back with the theme “Embrace the Diversity: Accepting Differences, Spreading Love.” This exhibition offers a refreshing yet profound artistic space, where differences are not hidden but heard, embraced, and treasured.

Taking place from July 10 to July 20, 2025 at Crescent Mall (District 7, Ho Chi Minh City), the exhibition brings together over 70 artworks created by children with disabilities from 12 special education schools and centers across the country. The artworks are curated by visual artist Ngô Đình Bảo Châu, with the hope of offering a visual journey that is both innocent and sincere – where viewers don’t just see colors or drawing lines, but also feel the souls of children living in their own unique worlds.

“The world of children is full of imagination and color. Each child sees the world in their own unique way, and I deeply value that,” shared by visual artist Bảo Châu. “When selecting the artworks, I focused on emotion. It’s like love at first sight. The pieces that held my gaze, held my heart.”

Artwork is not just to be seen, but to be understood

The exhibition space invites visitors into a deeply emotional experience, where each brushstroke, composition, and color choice reflects how the children perceive the world through different senses and unique ways of thinking. Many artworks prompt viewers to pause for a long time. This is not because of the complexity of the artworks, but because of the genuine simplicity and sincerity in every line, like a quiet message from children who are often overlooked in the fast pace of modern life.

Additionally, concise information related to different types of disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders is gently integrated, helping the public gain a deeper understanding of the challenges these children face every day. More importantly, it encourages society to truly comprehend what is often misunderstood. A clay-textured painting, a hauntingly repeated line, or a seemingly fragmented layout – each is an honest expression of a distinct way of thinking, a different kind of nervous system, a unique way of feeling.

In this space, there is no boundary between right or wrong, beautiful or not, only the richness of diverse thoughts, perspectives, and ways of experiencing the world. And it is precisely these differences that weave a colorful world, where love is the quiet thread that connects everything.

From art to multisensory empathy

Alongside the artwork area are various interactive experiences that bring visitors to step into the world of children with disabilities, which not just through sight, but through all the senses.

With 3D sensor technology, guests can explore the artworks in entirely new ways. A simple color vision test might surprise you, revealing just how differently each person “sees” the world. Meanwhile, a “sensory overload simulation room” offers a glimpse into the overwhelming, distracted, and chaotic sensations often experienced by children with autism or ADHD.

All these activities are designed to convey a consistent message: Different ways of thinking and feeling are not flaws, but natural and valuable parts of human diversity.

Where Art Creates Space to Be Seen and Valued

Notably, this year’s exhibition also showcases picture books submitted to the Paint Our Angels’ Wings 2024 Contest – the first picture book competition in Vietnam dedicated to children with disabilities. This marks an important bridge from art to education, where young creators are not only expressing themselves, but also offering a chance for vulnerable children to be seen, heard, and understood.

The exhibition is part of the “Our Better Angels” project initiated by Lawrence S. Ting Foundation, aiming to raise public awareness about children with disabilities and promote a more inclusive future in both education and society.
